Bamboo, Cork, and Wood

I’ll be building a few nodeless bamboo fly rods this year.  Rather than sanding and filing the nodes on each strip, the nodes are cut out and the pieces spliced together.  It takes four pieces to make a strip, six strips to build a rod section, and 2-4 sections for the complete rod.  So somewhere between 48 and 96 of these pieces pictured will produce one rod.  The cork rings are for the grip and the wood (bocote) will be turned down for the reel seat.DSCF1529DSCF1537
